Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana 2024: The Scheme Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) started by the Central Government, focus is on connecting the roads of all small and big villages of the country with the paved roads of the cities will be done. This scheme will be managed through Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Municipality.
Through this scheme, development will be seen in rural areas, for which the government keeps running many schemes. In the year 2000, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was launched by former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under which the unpaved roads of the villages were connected to the paved roads of the city.

The objective of PMGSY is to provide all-weather roads with required culverts and other cross drainage structures that are usable throughout the year to eligible unconnected habitations in rural areas as per PMGSY guidelines. Rural roads constructed under PMGSY should have proper embankment and drainage.
